About the Artist : Late Kashinath Jena (1943- 2011)’s paintings are imaginative, modern, folk, and traditional, all at the same time. He uses bright colors to depict rural serenity.
This mix media painting is a part of his Krishna series where most of the paintings have figurative art style with the women (Gopikas dancing around him) in their simplicity. There is a story which is clearly visible at the first look at the painting.

With a Diploma in Fine Arts from Khalikote Arts College, course in Planning & Production of Visual Aids from New Delhi, and Audio/Video for Micro Teaching & Communication and Making of Animation Films from UK, Mr, Jena was a senior artist and had exhibited his works galleries like Lalith Kala Academy, New Delhi, Lunier Art Gallery, Jahangir Art Gallery and Nehru Centre, Mumbai.

Jena`s works have been widely appreciated, and have fetched him awards like Best Artist from the Directorate of H & FW, Orissa in 1960; Best Artist from Working Artists Association, Orissa; and the Indo-National Society Economic Foundation Award during the Orissa Art Camp at Lalit Kala Kendra, Orissa.
